What publishing schedule do is set “from - to” values and then give access to the content if the actual time fit in between those. It doesn’t actually publish and unpublish content (on the given time) or generate any kind of event I could listen, correct?
You are right. Currently there are no events, but events for this will be implemented within the next 12 months.

What is the status for these events?
Sadly, it has taken a while longer to implement the foundational features in XP required. We are still working on these, but they should be ready by the end of this year. Once that is completed we may start looking into how to properly handle events for scheduled publishing in a better fashion.
