Enonic is thrilled to announce two major beta releases landing back-to-back!

:tada: XP 8 Beta

The next major version of Enonic XP is here, packed with modernization and new capabilities:

  • Universal API — A unified approach for building and exposing APIs, with built-in security and IAM integration. APIs can be exposed via custom URLs, virtual hosts, or mounted contextually within admin and site services.
  • Modern Foundation — Now running on Java 25, Jetty 12, and Hazelcast 5.
  • YAML schemas — XML is out, YAML is in. All CMS schemas and application descriptors get cleaner, more readable, comment-friendly configuration.
  • New XP menu and Dashboard — A refreshed navigation experience and a brand-new Dashboard giving you a clear overview of your platform at a glance.
  • Prometheus Metrics — Native OpenMetrics support for observability through Prometheus, Grafana, and compatible tooling.
  • Plus: Instant permissions across branches, streamlined APIs, smarter dump/export, stricter identity validation, and sha512 password hashing.

XP8 Beta can be installed by providing –all flag when creating a new sandbox with Enonic CLI:

enonic sandbox create xp8 --all

:tada: Content Studio 6 Beta

A game-changing milestone for Enonic, this release introduces our brand-new pluggable Page Editor alongside a magnificent, state-of-the-art UI component library, both debuting for the first time. The result of almost a year of intense effort, CS 6 takes the editing experience to a whole new level. Improvements and bug fixes are still being rolled out toward the final release, but the heavy lifting is done and the new UX is ready to explore.

We’d love help from the Сommunity testing these beta releases and sending feedback our way.

To make migrating apps from v7 to v8 as fast and smooth as possible, we’ve built a dedicated AI Agent skill which makes the upgrade process a breeze. Install it in Claude Code by running these two commands:

/plugin marketplace add enonic/ai-enonic-marketplace
/plugin install enonic-skills@enonic-marketplace

Then simply go into your project folder and type something like “upgrade my beautiful app to XP8”, then follow Claude’s instructions and watch the magic happen.

:date: What’s next?

The final release is planned for early June. We will celebrate this at the XP8 Launch event on the 4th of June (a separate invite for customers and partners will follow!). We hope as many of you can join us on that day in celebration of this milestone we are immensely proud of.
