Improve Project Wizard

The first step of the Project Wizard is very unclear after the changes introduced in Content Studio 5.2.0. As of now the user is not informed what kind of project type is being created anywhere during the process. Yes, it is stated that the first step is optional, but nowhere is it explained what that entails.

Could the Project Wizard be changed to make it more obvious that the user must skip the first step of the wizard to create a new project, either by adding som explanatory text to this step or by changing the text on the button to something akin to “Continue as a project/layer”? Ideally both.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Is the problem here that your users tend to skip this step when they need to create a layer? Or is it otherwise, they tend to select a parent project and then the created layer starts inheriting data when the user originally needed a clean project?

First step of the Project wizard does have a help text that explains what selection of a parent project entails but I agree that it’s a bit easy to oversee.
