Last week at Enonic - 2017, week 38

Last Week

Last week, Norway Post launched their website bring.se (in Swedish) on XP.

We released the second beta of 6.12. Please take it for a spin and report any bugs.

Planning for 6.13 and 6.14 is progressing, read our planning notes from last week’s PAB meeting (Product Advisory Board).

Internally, our developers switched build server from Teamcity to Concourse. Concourse is a simple and highly scalable build system, based on Docker containers. This fits right in with the new infrastructure we are building for both customers and internal support, so we wanted to give it a try. The final verdict is not in yet, but it looks good.

This week, on Wednesday, we’ll pull off yet another developer meetup in our offices with some very interesting talks. Learn more about Enonic XP, Posten’s new lightning fast multi-repo search, and how to build a form-builder app. Hurry to RSVP!

Enonic is hiring! We need to grow our team in Oslo with a Partner Sales Manager, now also with an “Partneransvarlig” ad in Norwegian.

And don’t miss the newly opened community driven Slack channel for developers and editors to connect directly with us, and each other. Come and chat with us!

Further reading

Here’s some interesting articles popping up last week, related to Web Development in general.

Many developers good old favourite Sublime Text went out of alpha/beta and live with 3.0 of their editor.

Understand your browser better to build faster websites - Mozilla walks us through speculative parsing, async, defer, and preload.

Do you sometimes have to code newsletter emails in HTML and CSS? Do you know what is supported by all the different email clients out there? Campaign Monitor released an updated CSS-guide last week that got quite some spread. Did you know they cover 35 different emails readers?!

One of the longest running members of the W3C - EEF - left last week in something of a public drama after W3C decided to accept a controversial DRM spec. They did so in an open letter, that also got a lot of coverage.

Consultancy firm BEKK writes about why you should stop using git rebase in their blog.

Send me a private message if you happen to stumble over something interesting this week.

Enonic Releases

Enonic XP 6.12 reached its second beta last week. Please take it for a spin and report any bugs. Here’s the changelog from beta 1.

6.12 will contain many new things. Translations into Spanish, Swedish, Russian, and French, and also a new home screen background image, to just mention a few. Bye bye eagle!

Enonic Market served these updates last week.

One of our most experienced (oldest) apps on Market had an update. Superhero blog version 1.7.1 fixes some importing issues (generation of demo content).
