Last week at Enonic - 2017, week 43

Last Week

Nibio.no launched their new websites on Enonic XP last week.

Enonic XP is a very popular platform, and we now need to grow our Oslo office. We need three more persons! Are you the one? Or do you know the one? Let us know!

Last week we made available an ad for a Full stack JavaScript Developer. This person will work in our services department, assisting our partners and customers with Enonic XP. Please contact me over any channel, or apply via LinkedIn.

We also need two persons in our marketing/sales department. One Demand Generation Manager, which is a brand new position. And, as advertised earlier, we also need a Partner Manager.

Be aware that even though one of these ads are written in English, all applicants need to be fluent in Norwegian since they will work with our Norwegian customers and partners.

Enonic Releases

We started preparing 6.12.2 last week, it will be released this week. We’ll announce it here in the forums.

Contact us here in the forums or on our open Slack channels if you have any questions.

Further reading

Here’s some interesting articles that surfaced last week, related to Web Development in general.

Prettier.io - Linting is not bad, but many turn to the opinionated code formatter Prettier. It just fixes the code for you, less for you to worry about.

The art of comments - Sarah Drasner has an interesting read on CSS-tricks about the art of making good code comments.

The story of CSS grid - The creators of the CSS grid W3C spec tell their story of how this long journey came to an end.

Good night Firebug - Many web developers that has been around for a while embraced the Firebug tool and couldn’t live without it. Browsers now implement their own variants for debugging. Last week Mozilla announced that Firebug will be put to sleep.

Progressive Web Apps at Mozilla - Google does it, Microsoft too. PWA is huge, gaining momentum continuously. Mozilla jumps on board to give us a better PWA experience on mobile. Now the world only waits for Apple to wake up (implementing Service Workers is not enough).

Send me a private message if you happen to stumble over something interesting this week.

Enonic Market

Enonic Market had these updates last week:

SEO Metafields 1.4.0 - New functionality from @nerdegutt (Bouvet). You can now add custom front page image, and tell the code to not force-shrink images. We also introduced a few other minor additions. Check the changelog.

lib-util 1.2.0 - This handy Javascript toolkit now has a brand new set of functions with the introduction of values.js. You can now check isSet, isInt, and also do function calls like valueOrEmptyString to simplify your JS-life.
