Last week at Enonic - 2017, week 48

Last Week

Enonic is at the Central Gov Strategy Forum this week, come and talk to us!

6.12 on the 6th of December is this Wednesday. We bring developers and editors into our offices to present all the new things in 6.12, show you all that is 6.13, and peek into the future! The focus will be on all the cool new things that will arrive. Norse Digital will also talk about how to create digital services that the users actually want.

Don’t miss the Market-section as we’ve now approved two new contributions to our Market place. @rbrastad gets his second contribution onto the Market. We also welcome the Tine IT-department with their first contribution - an all new view rendering library!

Last week we signed our next addition to the team, a full-stack JavaScript developer! But we’re still looking for our next two co-workers in Oslo. Are you the one? Or do you know the one? Let us know!

Contact us here in the forums or on our open Slack channels if you have any questions about us or Enonic XP.

Enonic Releases

Latest stable release of XP is 6.12.2, but we’re working on releasing 6.12.3 right now, it will fix some issues some users have been experiencing.

6.13 is planned to be released around Christmas-time. It will contain multiple improvements and minor bugfixes. We’ll see a less confusing Edit Image screen (hide meta-data fields), less scary “remove image”-buttons, and more!

Further reading

Here’s some interesting articles that surfaced last week, related to Web Development in general.

The ultimate list of hacks for Chrome’s forced yellow background on autocompleted inputs - The title is a mouth-full, but it covers every possible scenario when it comes to forced yellow background colors in Chrome. Written by yours truly =)

A React Christmas - One of our Market-contributers is giving you the gift of React, every day until Christmas.

Chrome will stop third-party injects - Chrome sees a lot of issues, and even crashes, due to third-party software injections. That will be harder to do, and eventually stopped altogether, in coming Chrome versions.

CSS grid > Bootstrap - An article explaining why you should ignore Bootstrap for your next project and go all-in with CSS Grid’s superior capabilities.

CSS grid’s minmax() demoed in 2.5 minutes - Legendary web developer Rachel Andrew demoes in less than 2.5 minutes how the minmax() function works in CSS Grid.

Send me a private message if you happen to stumble over something interesting this week.
