Last week at Enonic - 2018, week 12

Last Week

Last week’s Sunday marked the three year anniversary to the launch event for Enonic XP (then 5.0.0). We’ve come a very long way since then. The actual release was a month earlier (17th of February). We’ve made two “major” (breaking) versions (5 and 6) since then, and a total of 17 feature releases! That’s pretty impressive for any software in that amount of time.

Last week also saw the dawn of our set of tools for managing licenses. This has been in the works for some time, and basically adds even more power to XP for our subscribing customers (Enonic Cloud, or any support license). With the License Manager anyone can handle licenses for their libs and apps, this means you can finally open up your own Enonic App-development business! Enonic is also using the license manager to handle subscription-only apps, like the newly released Live Trace admin tool (inspects network traffic in real time, and what impact it has on each XP component).

Not to be foreshadowed by our licensing-tools, is the 1.5-release of our PWA starter! It introduces a lot of improvements from the last version, as well as laying the ground work for what we want it to be - a full PWA demo (you will be able to just browse the app and try a set of small PWA-demos). This lowers the bar for your first PWA-project even further.

Speaking of PWA, don’t miss our PWA Workshop for getting started with PWA. It’s held on the 10th of April in our offices. Being only 3 hours it’s the perfect bite-sized training event for you to get into the PWA-game!

This week of Easter is not seeing as much action as other weeks of the year, and since also next Monday is a day off in Norway, I’ll cancel “Last Week” next week. But I’m back on the 9th of April!

Enonic Releases

We released 6.14.1 earlier this month, it fixes multiple minor issues with XP and upgrade is recommended but not required.

Currently the team is beta-testing a 6.14.2 fix-release that will further improve XP 6.14. The daring can grab the build from our repo.

Keep reporting bugs here in the forum and on our Github page for XP.
