Siteimprove reports a lot of 3xx-redirects

Enonic version: YourEnonicVersion 7.14.4

When we upload documents to Enonic, Siteimprove ends up with a lot of warnings for 303-http status. How can we avoid this?

edit: to be clear, only 2 or 3 out of 255 warnings for https 303 are real redirects to pages that have changed url.

Hi Lars.

There is no way to answer you based on this input. We would need some examples of what you are uploading, and what siteimprove is reporting 303 for?

Here is an example. In yellow is a real redirect, all the others here, are not redirects:

If you can read norwegian, here is what Siteimprove says about the problem:

In Enonic, we upload these in a folder, one of the files when viewed as an element, looks like this:

By the way, we do not fill out these fields for documents, is that part of the problem?

Is it possible you have a template in your project that is linked to the media:document content type and which uses a controller to redirect the user to the right attachment url?

If so, that might explain the redirects you’re seeing in Siteimprove.

Like Roeland says - normally these links would give a 404, but you have a custom implementation that redirects the user to a location for downloading the file. So, my question would be - how is siteimprove discovering these URL’s in the first place? Seems you have a page listing the documents with the content URL, rather than the download URL (which is where the 303 goes).

My recommendation is that you link directly to the download URL, then Siteimprove would be happier than a Duck in the pond.

Thank you for your replies. @Roeland and @tsi .
