We have a project where react4xp is to major versions behind the current are wondering if you are developing a skill for such upgrades to xp8?
We only have the upgrade skill for the XP 7->8 migration that is common for all apps, not for upgrade of specific products, especially intermediate versions of specific products. What we do have, however, are upgrade notes for every major version of the main products, and react4xp is not an exception. These release notes can be easily fed (via direct link) to AI agents which will read them, investigate your codebase and do the lifting for you.
We do not recommend jumping over several major versions as this might overcomplicate the upgrade.
In the case of React4XP the biggest changes were between versions 5 and 6. Here’s the upgrade guide for 5->6: Recommended upgrade - React4XP 6.x - Enonic Developer.
v7 is functionally the same as v6, just XP8-ready. No new functions, just upgrade of the build system, upgrade guide here: Upgrade from XP 7 to XP 8 - React4XP 7.x - Enonic Developer.
So, I suggest to first upgrade from v5 to v6 and make sure everything still works. Then upgrade to XP8.
